Ray Riggs, Jr.
October 2, 1958 – June 23, 2025
Joseph "Joe" Ray Riggs, Jr., 66 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025 at Baptist Health surrounded by his loved ones. Joe was born on October 2, 1958 to Joseph Ray Riggs, Sr. and Linda Bowen Huffman in Zanesville, Ohio.
Joe was a devoted husband, father and a hardworking man who spent more than 44 years behind the wheel as a truck driver – a career he took pride in, providing for his family with quiet strength and dedication.
Outside of work, Joe loved the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and most of all, spending time with his family. Whether around a campfire or at the dinner table, he found joy in being with those he loved and cherished.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Becky; their son, Joseph and fiancé Stacey Lundquist and her son, Caden, both of whom Joe cared for like his own. Joe leaves behind a daughter, Jennifer Riggs and sisters, Jill Williams of New Lexington, Ohio, Lori Halsey (Mike), and Kelly Kennedy (Tim) of Crooksville, Ohio and a friend he considered a brother, Carl Johnson. Also surviving are his step-mother, Shelley Riggs and his half-sister, Angie Russell (Steve). Joe's sense of humor, warm heart and deep love for his family and friends will be missed more than words can express.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Riggs.
Joe was able to donate his corneas to someone with vision impairment, His family takes great comfort in knowing someone will be able to see this beautiful world through his eyes.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 followed by a celebration of Joe's life at 7 pm at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Pastor Harvey Baxter and Carl Johnson officiating.
