John A. Guynn, age 75 of Massac County, Illinois passed away at 11:15 pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital.

Services will be held at a later date.

John was retired from Riverwood International in Kankakee, Illinois. He was a member of the Machinist Union, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a member of Waldo Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He served his country in the United States Army 101st Airborne as a Specialist 4 during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Bronze Star.

John is survived by his children, Thomas Guynn, Matthew Guynn and wife Janie, and Samantha Lillard and husband Jeff; grandchildren, John Alexander, Kierstan, Kylie, Kaden, Deacon, and Wrigley; siblings, Peggy Irwin, Benny Guynn (Barbara), Gale "Doc" Guynn, Joan Witham, Karen Perzee (Cliff), and Margo Wiley; several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Julius Earl and Agatha "Peggy" (Terry) Guynn; wife, Joyce Guynn; grandchild, Jamie Riley Guynn; siblings, James "Jimmy" Guynn, Jean Steen, Bill Guynn, and Patsy Murphy.
