Mr. John Allen Barr II, age 62, of Brookport, IL, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017, in his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday January 9, 2017 at Victory Full Gospel Church in Metropolis, with Bro. Aaron Crainshaw officiating. Burial will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Mr. Barr is survived by his wife of 21 years, Debbie; six sons, Allen Barr of Eldorado, IL, Chris Barr and wife Alicia of Marion, IL, JJ Paro and wife Jennifer of Metropolis, Jason Barr and wife Taylor of Harrisburg, Joshua Vinyard of Metropolis, Jacob Vinyard and wife Clarissa of Nashville TN.; Two Daughters, Laura Anderson and husband Nathan of Metropolis, Jaci Ouderkirk and husband James of Paducah Ky.; 8 grandchildren; three sisters, Cherie Tieri and husband Donald of Batavia, IL, Kathie Melka and husband Ken of La Grange IL, Patty Mieldarski of Westmont IL.; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Mr. Barr was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Patricia Barr, and 3 grandchildren. Mr. Barr was honorably discharged from the United States Army and a retired Sergeant for the Illinois State Police. He was an active member of the community. He spent many years volunteering with his local Fire Dept. and helping in local police programs at the schools. He enjoyed watching granddaughters Felicity and Caden play ball, helping grandson Nate with Scouting activities, having deep conversations with nephew Connor about computers and music, but most of all he loved making his wife smile.
