Ms. Joanne (Copeland) Paulsell, age 84, of Metropolis, IL, passed away at 5:26 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2015 at Baptist Health of Paducah.Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, February 13, 2015, at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.Ms. Paulsell graduated from S.I.U. Carbondale with a teaching degree in 1955. She spent most of her teaching career in Phoenix, AZ, when she moved in 1961, but returned to Metropolis after retirement and began substitute teaching. Joanne was a proud member of the Fort Massac Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.Joanne is survived by her 3 sons, Sky Paulsell and wife Soly of Arizona, Robin Paulsell and wife Monica of Northern California, and Todd Paulsell of Kentucky; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Joyce Copeland-Bacon and husband Norman of Texas; 1 brother, Glenn Copeland and wife Joy of Joppa; several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Bessie (May) Copeland.Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at noon at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis.Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the Ft.
