Jimmie C. Gibson, age 85 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 11:55 pm on Monday, April 15, 2024 at the Metropolis Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

Per Jimmie's wishes cremation services have been performed and there will not be any services.

Jimmie worked in the river industry as a Chief Engineer for 46 years, was a member of Eastland Life Church, American Legion Post 306, Moose Lodge, and served his country in the Army 183rd Airborne during Vietnam.

Jimmie is survived by his wife of almost 21 years, Doris Gibson; step daughter, Stacey Leek; step grandchildren, Braxton, Ady, and Zoey; 1 sister; 2 brothers; and several nieces and nephews.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, James and Estell (Jones) Gibson; 1st wife, Cavida Gibson; grandparents who raised him, Knox and Mae Jones; and 3 brothers.
