Mr. Jim Mathis, age 70, of Metropolis, IL, passed away at 6:28 pm on Monday, December 10, 2018 at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, December 13, 2018 in Mt. Sterling Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery with military rites and Bro. David Wright officiating. There will be no visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Mr. Mathis was a U.S. Army Veteran and a lifetime member of the VFW.

Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rita Mathis and two sisters, Brenda Dusch and Bonnie Kozuszek all of Metropolis; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucille (Johnson) Mathis; grandmother, Lydia McArtor; one sister, Patricia "Pat" Owens; and one brother, Louis Mathis.
