Jean A. Meyer Whorton, age 96 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 10:44 pm on Monday, October 19, 2026 at Massac Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026 from 11 am to 12 noon at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with a graveside service immediately following at Metropolis Memorial Gardens with Rev. Joey Dunning officiating.

Jean had worked for Massac Memorial Hospital and retired as a Veterinary Technician having worked for many years with Dr. Garrett, Dr. Diekroeger, and Dr. Martell. She was a member of First Methodist Church in Metropolis.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Zinda Baggett; son, Jeff Meyer and wife Jan; grandchildren, Brian Baggett, Bronson Meyer and wife Danielle and Haley Lee and husband Michael; great grandchildren, Beck Meyer, Bo Meyer, and June Lee; step children, Stephen Whorton and wife Phyllis; Thomas Whorton and wife Janice, and Linda Miller and husband Bruno.

Jean was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Harrison; mother, Ora (Hurt) Henley; step father who raised her, Bruce Henley; husbands, Roy Meyer and Everett L. Whorton; son-in-law, David L. Baggett; step son, Everett Whorton.
