Mrs. Jean F. McColgin, age 89 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 10:48 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Lourdes Hospital.Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Father Michael Christopher Mujule will officiate. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.Jean moved to Metropolis in 1963 with her husband and was a piano teacher for 25 years in Metropolis. She was a member of the American Federation of Music Clubs, an Adult Literacy Volunteer, co-founded the Massac County Arts Council, wrote a weekly column for the Metropolis Planet, was a member of the Metropolis Garden Club and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where she served as Lector & Cantor for Liturgy, and was a supporter of and performer at the Market House Theater. Faith and Family were a guide to Jean throughout her life.Jean is survived by 2 daughters, Linda Arms of Memphis, TN and Leslie McColgin and husband George Kennedy of Lowes, KY; 2 grandchildren, Calen Andrew Kennedy of Lowes, KY and Candra Wynne Kennedy and husband Jeremy Prouty of Philadelphia, PA; nephew, Dr. C. Thomas Webb Jr. of Elk Grove Village, IL.Jean was preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Louise E. (Power) Foster; husband, Herbert H.
