Jean M. Hearn of Metropolis, IL passed away Saturday evening, July 30, 2016 at the Metropolis Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was 96. Mrs. Hearn was born January 26, 1920 in Fargo, North Dakota, the daughter of Anthony J. and Alice E. Schmitz. She met Jack P. Hearn in Fargo where she lived, worked and attended Business College, while he was stationed there during part of World War II. They were married on May 21, 1946. Over the years she and Jack lived in Missouri, Illinois and California, She was a dedicated homemaker and loving wife to Jack and mother to their children, Judy, David and Barbara. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Metropolis, IL. Mrs. Hearn is survived by her children, Judy (Scott) Sorensen of Poway, CA, David (Ellen) Hearn of Metropolis, IL, and Barbie (Randy) Cole of Mission Viejo, CA; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Campbell, Emily Sorensen, Brett Hearn, Meghan Cole and Hunter Cole and four great grandchildren, Jocelyn Hearn, Jewlian Hearn, Julia Campbell and Colton Summers. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Anthony J. and Alice E. Schmitz, her husband Jack P. Hearn and her sister Doris Bakko. A funeral mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Metropolis will celebrate her life on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 11 A.M. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 A.M. Father Michael Chris Mujule will officiate. Burial will follow immediately at the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Her memory will live on in the lives of the many who enjoyed her love and friendship.
