Obituary

Jean Elizabeth (Barnett) Redenour, 85, of the Hillerman community, passed away at 12:00 am, Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Metropolis Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Metropolis, Illinois. She was born August 25, 1930 in Paducah, Kentucky to Ray W. and Lula (Halstenberg) Barnett.In 1955, she married Joseph Dean Redenour of Princeton, Indiana and he preceded her in death in 2007.She is survived by two son, Dr. J. Bruce Redenour and wife Eleanor of Karnak, Illinois, and Allan B. Redenour of Paducah, Kentucky.Also, surviving are three granddaughters, Rachel Geist and husband Brett of Urbana, Illinois, Leah Redenour of Karnak, Illinois, and Alanna Redenour of Edwardsville, Illinois; on great granddaughter, Ellie Faye Geist of Urbana, Illinois; one brother, Glen Barnett of Massac County, Illinois; several nieces and nephews and many cousins.She was a lifelong resident of Massac County from her grade school days at Anderson Elementary, through Karnak High School. She graduated from Murray State University and used her degrees to teach in the Massac County school system for many years. She taught at Joppa High School and at Logan Elementary.The visitation is from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the Anderson Congregational Church in Boaz, Illinois where she was a member for many years.The funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:30 pm with the Reverend Gerald R. Cain officiating. Burial will be in the Anderson Church Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis is in charge of arrangements.
