James Wesley “Snappy Pappy” Williams, 81 of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at the Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

There will be no services.

James Wesley was retired as a janitor of the school systems. He was a member of Just By Faith and enjoyed singing, drawing, drafting,  and riding bikes. He was a big jokester and the family comedian. James Wesley was loved deeply and will be missed by all that knew him.

James Wesley is survived by his daughters, LeTonia Smith (Ahmad), Monica Moore, and Ewan Dunlap; grandchildren, Antonia Harmon (Johnny), Tatian Carrigan, Mikayla, Daishienia, Keith, De’vaughnta, Icsis, Eymon, Quran, and Lynea; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Janie Ann Foster; brother, Eddie Hicks; LeTonia’s mother, Irma Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Augusta Williams; granddaughter, Tchai Williams; great grandchild, Jonni Harmon; brother, Robert Lee Hicks, Jr.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis.
