James E. "Jim" Weeks, age 89 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Jerry Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens with military rites. Jim was a retired truck driver, a member of the Teamsters local, and Immanuel Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Jim is survived by 2 daughters, Robin McDuffee and husband Gary and Pattie Weeks both of Metropolis, IL; 6 grandchildren, Sara Kotter of Murray, KY, Erin Popcun and husband Ed of Syracuse, NY, David Smith and wife Leslie of Flower Mound, TX, Levi McDuffee of Paducah, KY, Jacob Kommer and wife Leanne of La Grange, KY and Daniel Kommer of La Center, KY; 11 great grandchildren; 3 step children, Mark Adams of WV, Tim Adams of Las Vegas, NV, and Paul Adams of Paducah, KY; ½ brother, Jeffrey Weeks of Woodstock, IL. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Freida (Owens) Weeks; step mother, Carmen Weeks; 1st wife, Dora Weeks; 2nd wife, Selma Adams Weeks. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 12 noon to 1 pm at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jacob Kommer, Daniel Kommer, David Smith, Levi McDuffee, Gary McDuffee, and Chance Kommer. Arrangements have been entrusted to Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.
