James “Jim” or “Woody” Mittendorf, age 94 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 8, 2026 at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Greg Rednour officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Jim was retired from Electric Energy Inc, where he was a Storeroom Manager. He was a member of Concord Methodist Church and loved to travel. He was a farmer for many years and was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Joni Rednour and husband Greg; son, Wally Mittendorf and wife Mary Ann; granddaughter, Brittany Andrus and husband David; grandsons, Seth Mittendorf and Dalton Mittendorf; great grandchildren, Hudson Andrus and Londyn Andrus; and his caregiver, Sheila.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lola (Collins) Mittendorf; wife of 67 years, Evelyn Mittendorf; sisters, Dorothy Mittendorf and Mary Elizabeth Gray; brother, William Mittendorf.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 8th from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in James’ name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
