James David "J.D." Holland, age 84 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 10:25 pm on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center.

Memorial services with military rites will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Rev. Shalom Renner and Rev. Jon Cockrel officiating.

J.D. was retired from Westlake formerly known as B.F. Goodrich and was a farmer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Metropolis, where he was active in the United Methodist Men, and was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict.

J.D. is survived by his wife of 60 years, Geraldine "Geri" Holland; children, Kim Thomas and husband Richard, Melanie Morse and husband Jamie, Jeff Holland and wife Rayette, and Jon Holland and wife Amy; grandchildren, Justin Holt and wife Andrea, Jacob Thomas, Jared Holland and wife Emily, Jayson Holland and wife Wrenna, Nick Holland and wife Meredith, Lindsay Thomas, and Noah Holland; great grandchildren, Ava Holt, Jonny Holland, Elliott Dunevant, Mia Holt, Grayson Holland, Easton Varvel, Makenna Holland, Tyler Holt, Josiah Holland, Maverick Holland, and one on the way; brother, Philip E. Holland and wife Karleen; 1 niece and several nephews.

J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Blanche (Thackston) Holland.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 12 pm to 2 pm at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.
