Mrs. Irma Elaine Babb, age 87, of Metropolis, IL, passed away at 4:50 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Massac Memorial Hospital.Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 1, 2014 in the Pell Cemetery with grandson Kyle Allbritten officiating. All family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.Mrs. Babb was a member of the First Christian Church of Brookport. She attended Brookport High School and was a former editor of the Brookport News. Irma was a lifelong homemaker and loved taking care of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi of Brookport for over 50 years.Irma is survived by 4 children, Deirdre Allbritten and husband Odell of Metropolis, Terry Babb of Brookport, Gretel Craig and husband David of Brookport, and Leah Slayden of Metropolis; 8 grandchildren, Kyle Allbritten and wife Crystal of Idaho Falls, ID, Vance Allbritten and wife Cindy of West Paducah, KY, Lt. Jared Allbritten USN of Norfolk, VA, Aaron Allbritten and wife Vicki of Metropolis, Jennifer Pegram and husband Sean of Metropolis, Nathan Nix of Memphis, TN, Cheslie Mays of Brookport, and Lacey Barnhill and husband Jeremy of Metropolis; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Joyce Cook and husband Ray of Brookport, 1 brother-in-law, Melvin Burch of Des Moines, IA, 1 sister-in-law, Kaye Pryor of Brookport; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emma (Wallace) Pryor; her husband of 65 years, Vernon Babb; 2 children, Bonita Jane and Ray Vernon Babb Jr.; 3 sisters, Edna Sucher, Bonnie Babb, and Lois Burch; 1 brother, Truman "T.J." Pryor; and 1 son-in-law, Phillip Slayden.Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Brookport Funeral Home.Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the First Christian Church of Brookport P.O.
