Howard Edwin Wright, 97, of Metropolis, formerly of Ullin, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis. There will be no visitation or service. A private burial will follow at a later date. Mr. Wright was a member of the First Baptist Church of Metropolis and a former deacon at the First Baptist Church of Ullin. He was retired from Chicago Wood Piling Company in Ullin. Howard is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margarette; his daughter, Carmen Thompson; his grandson, Brandon Thompson; and his great-granddaughter, Elin Paige Thompson, all of Metropolis. He is also survived by a niece, Patsy Shelby of Anna, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brother, one sister, and one grandson. Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis are in charge of arrangements.
