Mr. Howard S. Windhorst, age 85, of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Metropolis Rehab and Health Care Center.Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Zion United Church of Christ with Dr. James Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.Howard was an operator at Honeywell for 20 years, a farmer, and worked for the State Highway Department. He was also a member of Zion UCC.Howard is survived by three sons, Jeff Windhorst and wife Nancy, Stanley Windhorst, and Gary Windhorst and wife Toni all of Metropolis; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; 2 sisters, Catherine Dunning and husband Leb and Maxine Schneider both of Metropolis; several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Lydia (Teckenbrock) Windhorst; wife, Mary (Scurlock) Windhorst; one son, Ricky Windhorst; one brother, Lester Windhorst.Visitation will be held at Zion UCC on Wednesday, October 14 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at noon.
