Mrs. Helen Perry, age 93, of Metropolis, IL, passed away at 1:25 a.m. on Monday, March 06, 2017 at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Jon Cockrel and Pastor John Aitken officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Perry was a member of the Joppa Methodist Church and a devoted mother and homemaker. Helen is survived by her children, Rosa Lee Fick of Grand Chain, IL, Judy Story of Paducah, KY, and Peggy Fitzpatrick and husband Carey of Olive Branch, MS; nine grandchildren, Rachel (Andy) Rhoades of Grand Chain, IL, Stephen (Lisa) Fick of Herrin, IL, Keith (Lisa) Story of Southaven, MS, Kenny Story of Joppa, IL, Melissa Harris of Joppa, IL, Lance McLaughlin of Olive Branch, MS, Sarah (Travis) Harper of Grenada, MS, Rachel Pitts, of Little Rock, AR and Rebecca Snyder of Little Rock, AR; 15 great grandchildren, Laura (Raymond) Vaughn of Paducah, KY, Emily English of Grand Chain, IL, Tyler Fick of Herrin, IL, Nikki Story of Southaven, MS, Taylor Story of Southaven, MS, Jacob Harris of Paducah, KY, Tucker Harris of Metropolis, IL, Hannah Harris of Joppa, IL, Elizabeth (David) Witt, of Little Rock, AR, Corey Smith of Collierville, TN, Asher Koenigseder, of Little Rock, AR, Jhnous Long of Jackson, TN, Kaleb Long of Jackson, TN, Gabriel McLaughlin of Olive Branch, MS, and Sarah Snyder of Little Rock, AR; five great-great grandchildren, Abel Harris of Paducah, KY, Kenley and Carlene Harris of Metropolis, IL Kolbie Harris of Paducah, KY, and Grayson Harris of Marion, IL; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Nell Smith Holmes; husband George Perry; two brothers, Kenneth and Frank Holmes; three sisters, Dorothy Williams, Wilma Watkins, and Betty Sinks. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9 from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1 p.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis.
