Helen Marie Coburn, 88, died Wednesday, August 24, 2021 at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, KY. Ms. Coburn was born on September 21, 1932 in Massac County to Claude and Reba Elizabeth Burnett Warwick and reared in Metropolis.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Larry Lunsford officiating. Burial will follow at Nineveh Cemetery near Mermet, IL.
Ms. Coburn worked for 20 years and retired from Shawnee Development Home Health Agency as a home health caregiver. She was awarded Employee of the Year in the state of Illinois for her extraordinary action in saving two lives of her clients that fell in the night and were almost frozen to death. She was a very giving and helping person and loved by all. Most of all, Helen enjoyed being a servant of the Lord whom she loved with all her heart and faithfully attended church.
Helen in survived by two sons, Robert "Bobbi" Eugene Stevenson of Florida and Richard Allen Briscoe of Indiana; one daughter, Juley Ann Tipton and husband Donnie of Farmington, KY; her grandchildren, Ashley (Randy) Briant, Luke Braden, Brooklyn (Dylan) Pierce, Josh Briscoe, Amy Briscoe, David Briscoe, Greg Sheperd and several others; her great grandchildren, Megan, MaKylie and Malachi Briant and several others; one brother, Scott E. Warwick of Metropolis; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Lloyd Dale, Robert Benjamin and Richard Lee Pergande; one daughter, Lois Ann Pergande; her parents; two sisters, Janice Ann Warwick who died in infancy and Mary Warwick Hollinsaid; one brother, Edward Warwick; husband, Carmie Coburn; special friend, Noah Gentry; and her beloved dog, Daisy.
Visitation with the family will be held from 12 noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 28th at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given in Helen's name to Loftus-McManus Funeral Home PO Box 760, Metropolis, IL 62960 to assist with funeral expenses or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Condolences may be left online at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
