Grena "Dee" Eickholz age 76, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2020, at the Metropolis Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.  She was born on June 14, 1943 in Alhambra, CA to Union and Virgie (Kommer) Dassing.

Ms. Eickholz graduated in 1960 from Metropolis Community High School at the age of 16. Dee went on to graduate from Paducah Beauty School and operated Dee's Beauty Shop for many years before she and her sister-in-law opened a shop together. After closing their business, she worked as deli manager at Bill's Market while studying data entry at Draughn's College. Upon graduating in 1983, Dee was employed at Western Baptist Hospital and later at Massac Memorial Hospital. Dee was of the Lutheran faith and in her free time she enjoyed reading, gardening and canning, crocheting and being with her grandchildren.

Dee is survived by her two daughters, Kathy Eickholz and Kim (Glenn) Scott; grandchildren, Samuel Scott, Hannah (Evan) Nutty, and James (Claire) Burgett; 6 great grandchildren; two sisters, Janna (Michael) Middleton and Jeannie (Tim) Carr; 4 brothers, Gary (Mary) Dassing, Eric Dassing, Daryl (Laura) Dassing, and Adrian Dassing; three aunts, Donna Culver, Margaret Pogue and Judy Kommer; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Dee was preceded in death by her companion of over 30 years, Harry Black; sister-in-law, Joyce Dassing; and her daughter Kathy's companion, Scarlett Burgett.

A family get-together will be held at a later date.
