Gregory Esslinger Sr., 59 of Metropolis, IL, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with a celebration of life following at 3:00 pm officiated by Bro. Justin Wolfe.

Gregory was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping and riding horses and motorcycles. He was a carpenter by trade and loved to stay busy by tinkering. Gregory was as a talented musician who could sing and play multiple instruments. He was loved and admired by his family and friends and will be sorely missed.

Gregory is survived by his mother, Bonnie King; sons, Gregory Esslinger, Jr. (Autumn Sturm) and Austin Abner; grandchildren, Zane Esslinger, Raelynn Esslinger and Gregory Esslinger, III; sisters, Lisa Davis (Barry) and Kelly King; and several beloved nephews, nieces aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Esslinger; stepfather, Corwin “Corky” King; and grandparents, Boyd and Zenoba Metcalf.
