IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gloria Rose
(Wolfe) Angel
January 14, 1936 – November 8, 2025
Gloria Rose Angel passed from this world to be with her God with her family at her side on November 8, 2025. She was eighty-nine years young. Gloria was born at home in Metropolis, Illinois on January 14, 1936 to Henry Gay Wolfe and Rosetta Wolfe.
Gloria attended Metropolis Community High School and later went on to receive her nursing degree from Shawnee Community College. Gloria was employed as a nurse at Western Baptist Hospital for fifteen years. She also worked as a home health nurse in Southern Illinois caring for patients in their homes. She thoroughly enjoyed her nursing career and often spoke about caring for her patients and memories of days at the hospital. Patient care gave her much satisfaction and she prided herself in those skills and was an excellent nurse.
In recent years she enjoyed her flower garden, humming birds, feeding feathered friends and tending the occasional stray animal in her back yard. She loved nature, animals, the mountains, cruises and seeing the ocean. Visits with family were her favorite times.
She raised five children including Pamela Faughn of Hamletsburg, Illinois, Teresa Mitchell of Nashville, Tennessee, Matthew Mitchell of Marietta, Georgia, and Jodi Scarboro of Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Her son, Mark Mitchell, preceded her in death.
Gloria had seven grandchildren, Michael Thomas, Sean Mitchell, Bryn Henley, Morgan Scarboro, Katherine Henley, Mitchell Scarboro and Amanda Hemphill. She also had twelve great grandchildren.
Gloria was an avid animal lover. Donations in her memory can be made to Project Hope No Kill Shelter, P.O. Box 125, Metropolis, Illinois 62960. Her wishes were for a family gathering to remember her and one is planned in the future.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com
