Gilbert Ted Theis, 86 of Metropolis, IL, passed away at 2:47 A.M. on Friday, December 4, 2020, at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis, IL. He was born on April 16, 1934 in Balcom, Illinois to William and Mollie (Angel) Theis. He married Mary Elizabeth Richardson on December 28, 1956 and she preceded him in death on February 4, 2008. Gilbert was a retired meat packer. He worked at Hunter's Meat Packing in E. St. Louis, IL, and Morrell's Meat Packing in Sioux Falls, SD.  Gilbert loved fishing, crocheting, wood crafts, hunting, and playing softball, basketball and cards. He was a veteran of the United States Army.  He served at Fort Wachuka, Arizona as a Radio Tower Repairman. He is survived by:

4 children:  Son, Stephen (Carolina) Theis of Fresno, TX; Daughter, Deborah Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD; Daughter, Patty (Richard) Marshall of Metropolis, IL; Daughter, Connie (James Sr.) Sales of Sikeston, MO.

10 Grandchildren:  Jeremy, Jason, Jessica, Nicole, John, Nathan, Timothy, Heather, and James Jr.

9 Great Grandchildren:  Blake, Reese, Mason, McKinley, Adrienne, Alma, Alexandria, Emmitt, Everett, Damian, Amara, Kaden, Maddison, Bexley, Trentin, Trenity, and Trissa.

2 Siblings:  Raymond, and Marie.  As well as many other relatives and friends. Gilbert was preceded in death by his Parents, his wife, Mary, and 13 Siblings.

Gilbert will be cremated and a memorial will be planned in the spring of 2021.
