Gerald W. "Jerry" Swenney, age 61 of Metropolis, IL, passed away at 7:49 p.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Mercy Health Paducah.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at I.O.O.F. Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Jerry was of Baptist faith and loved the country life. He enjoyed driving around Mermet Lake and Fort Massac State Park was a second home to him.

Jerry is survived by his sisters, Ruth E. Seibert and husband Bill of Paducah, KY and Rose M. Swenney and fiancé Bud of Terra Haute, IN; two brothers, John R. Swenney and wife Vicki of Metropolis and Kevin D. Swenney and wife Stacy of Newnan, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Betty (Ramsey) Swenney; grandparents, John W. Swenney, Effie Schneeman, and Alfred Lee and Edith Ramsey; one brother, Howard E. "Butch" Swenney; and companion, Dawn Hornback.

Memorial contributions may be given in Jerry's name to Friends of Fort Massac 1308 E. 5th Street, Metropolis, IL, 62960 with "Mermet Lake" in the memo.
