Mrs. Georgia Dean Emery, age 90 of Metropolis, IL passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her family.Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis. Rev. Larry Lunsford will officiate. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.Georgia was born on August 27, 1922 in Wolf Lake, IL to William and Syntha Butterfield. She was a member of Word of Life Tabernacle. Her church and church family were very important to her.After the death of her husband, Harry Earl Emery, in 1973 she worked at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home. However, her most important job was raising her children, whom she loved with all of her heart.Georgia is survived by her children, Wanda Cole and husband Edward, Penny Emery and wife Charlene, Sherry Williams and husband Bill all of Metropolis, IL, Cindy Wilke and husband Randy of Karnak, IL, and Teressa Newbold and husband Jeff of Brookport, IL; grandchildren, Connie Parrish and husband Henry, Ronda Darnell, Lisa Harris and husband Charles, Rene' Dees and husband Jeff, Tricia Dowell and husband Brian, Casey Warren and husband Gary, Clinton Ferguson and wife Miriam, Candace Ginger and husband Danny, Brandon Wilke, Richard Newbold and wife Trisha, and Rachel Newbold; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters, Dimple Brinker and Betty Grace; brother, Mac Butterfield; several nieces and nephews.Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, William McKinley Butterfield and Syntha (Leek) Butterfield Lowery; husband, Harry Earl "Penny" Emery; daughter, Peggy Griffith; step son, Ronnie Emery; sisters, Gladys Dailey, Jan Schafer, Dorothy Parker, Jackie Travis, and Mary Eaves; brothers, Eugene Butterfield and William ButterfieldVisitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2o13 from 11 am until 1 pm at the Miller Funeral Home.Memorials may be made to Guardian Family Services, Attn: Rita Gower, 117 West 10th Street, Metropolis, Illinois 62960.Pallbearers will be Brandon Wilke, Clinton Ferguson, Richard Newbold, Zach Tockstein, Danny Ginger, and Mike Parker.
