Obituary

George William Troutt, 73, of Reevesville passed away Thursday July 31st at his home with his family by his side. George enjoyed anytime spent outdoors and especially time outdoors with family. Fishing and hunting were his greatest passions and passed that love onto his four Grandsons and great grandkids. George was a past member of the Massac, Johnson and Pope County Coon Clubs and actively organizing events to get youth into the outdoors and hunting.Never meeting a stranger and always putting smiles on people's faces were hallmarks of George's personality and daily life. Sharing what he had with others brought great joy to him, be it vegetables from his garden or squirrel and dumplings with a neighbor. The most important thing to GW was his family and friends. His wife, daughters and especially grand and great grandchildren who brought unmeasured joy to him up until his last days. Survivors include his wife Judy; three daughters, Pam Bates and husband Mike of Rosebud; Kim Quint and husband Joe of Metropolis and Kelly Lunsford and husband Mike also of Metropolis. One brother James "Tuffy" Troutt and wife Brenda of Metropolis. Four Grandsons; Christopher Troutt and wife Erin, Caleb Quint and wife Kayla, Dillon Bates and Colton Lunsford. George had three great grandchildren Isabella, Drake and Brooklyn; Two Nieces Anita Eckenberg husband David and Janet Craig and husband David and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents George E. Troutt and Harriet Wieneke TrouttIn lieu of flowers George requested that donations be made in his name to The Reevesville Community Church (30 Willow St Grantsburg IL) and/or Reevesville Cemetery Fund (C/O James Troutt 105 Oak LN Metropolis IL).Funeral services will be held on at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. Burial will follow in the Reevesville Cemetery.Visitation will be held on Saturday evening, August 2, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home.Online Condolences may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
