George E. Sharp, 91 of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Southgate Health Care Center in Metropolis.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Justin Sharp officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

George was a retired principal from the Massac Unit #1 school district and of Baptist faith.

George is survived by his wife of 71 years, Betty Sharp; two sons, Alan Sharp and wife Linda and Paul Sharp and wife Kathy; four grandsons, Brandon Sharp, Justin Sharp, David Sharp and Edward Sharp; seven great grandchildren, Jacob, Ethan, Alex, Alica, Sierra, Noah and Henry; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Sharp; mother and stepfather, Mary (Beard) and Finley Barger; one sister, Kathleen Qualick.

Visitation will be held on Saturday evening, September 23rd, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.
