Mr. George Allen Lewis, age 49, of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Lewis Family Cemetery in Joppa, IL, with Ivan Woods officiating.Mr. Lewis was a U.S. Army Veteran.George is survived by his parents, Richard and Shannon Root; son, Allen Lewis and fiancé Lora Williamson of Metropolis; daughter, Alyxia Bickerstaff and husband Oscar of Paducah; grandson, Xander Lewis of Metropolis; sister, Carmen Sexton and husband Brad of Karnak; brother, Robert Root of Metropolis; grandmother, Elinore Lewis of Joppa and several nieces and nephews.There will be no visitation. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
