George Harris, 66, of Brookport, IL, passed away at 12:52 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Lourdes Hospital with his family by his side.There will be no service. Mr. Harris will be cremated according to his wishes.George worked at IGA as a meat cutter. He also worked construction, building log homes across the country. He was an avid outdoorsman and had a passion for deer hunting.George is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol (Parmer) Harris; his children, Angela (Brent) Williams of Metropolis, Chuck (Lisa) Harris of Brookport, Tony (Peggy Lang) Harris of Metropolis, and Chris Harris of Brookport; 6 grandchildren, Adam Harris, Courtney Hicks and fiancé Josh Duncan, Samantha May, Lindsey Hicks, Alex May, and Alyssa Harris; his brothers James (Deena) Harris of Metropolis, Ellis (Susie) Harris of Brookport, and Bruce Harris of Metropolis; his sisters, Sue Weaver, Patricia Lott and Carol Rae Harris all of Metropolis.He was preceded in death by his parents Ellis James and Bertha (Humes) Harris. Visitation will be held at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m.
