Mrs. Frieda Koch, age 97 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 4:57 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at the home of her nephew.Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the St. John's Church on Waldo Church Road in Massac County, Illinois. Rev. Jeff Bremer will officiate. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.Frieda married Odis Koch on April 24, 1946. She retired as a cook at the Happy Hearts Senior Citizens Center at the age of 90. She was a member of the St. John's Church and the Eastern Star. She received the Lois Lane Award and Superman Award for her many years of service to her community.Frieda is survived by a host of Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, and Great Nephews.Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Alvena (Busclas) Horntrop; her husband, Odis Koch; one brother, Wilfred Horntrop, 1 niece, and 1 nephew.There will not be any visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the church for the services.Memorials may be made to St. John's Church, 6201 Waldo Church Road, Metropolis, Illinois 62960.Pallbearers will be David Koch, Brian Koch, Cord Koch, Ricky Rose, Barry Stephenson, Jim Stubblefield, and Eli Rose.Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
