Jeanette was born the 3rd daughter to Barney and Elsie (Obermark) Metcalf on November 24, 1930 on a 100-acre farm near Rosebud, IL, in Pope County, IL. She graduated Golconda High School in 1949 then set off to see the world. She lived in England for two years, Florida for seven years, then Alaska for 4 years. Jeanette finally settled down in Nashville, TN, with her husband Wayne where she worked for the Lance Corporation as a secretary.
