Eva Marie Stanton, 91, of Metropolis, IL, died Sunday, July 27 at 6:06am at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY. She was born November 22, 1922, in Lake Linden, MI to Fred and Anna Koski.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Metropolis with Rev. David Deem officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.Mrs. Stanton was a special education teacher with Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Southern Illinois University where she was graduated summa cum laude. She retired from Massac Unit School District #1 and continued to substitute teach. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was involved in WELCA and a member of the morning Bible class. She was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association, a past president and member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority and a member of Pi Lambda Theta Tau Honor Society.Eva is survived by her three sons, Michael (Mary) of Bloomington, IL, John (Yvonne) of Metropolis, and Robert of Mayfield, KY, and two daughters Mary (Eddie) Seay of Mayfield and Kathy (Joe) Evanko of West Paducah; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Jennie Nordbeck of Minnesota and Helen Lund of Michigan and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 62 years, Larry Stanton who passed in 2009; brothers, Fred, William, Kaarlo and Reuben Koski; sisters, Katherine Putansu, Eleanor Juntunen, Mildred Johnson, Aileen Normand and May Fraatz.Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, July 30, 2014 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home and on Thursday morning, July 31st at the St. Paul Lutheran Church from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m.In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church 520 Ferry Street Metropolis, IL 62960.Online Condolences may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
