Mrs. Elsie McMurtry, age 88, of Metropolis, IL, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Metropolis Rehab and Health Care Center.Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015, at the Victory Full Gospel Church in Metropolis with Bro. Penny Emery officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.Elsie was a loving mother and grandmother who never met a stranger.Elsie is survived by 4 children, Billy Rucker and wife Lestie of Metropolis, Wanda Rucker of Metropolis, Charles Rucker and wife Brenda of Colp, IL, and Sheila Tucker and husband Tommy of Brookport; 46 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Daisy Spencer of Metropolis, Mary Tripplet of Henderson, KY, and Bobby Sue Pollis and husband Clifford of Martin, TN.She was preceded in death by her husbands; 2 sons, Marion Russell Rucker Jr. and Donald Rucker; 2 sisters, Hazel Sawyer and Margie Riggs; a set of infant twins and 1 little brother.Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Victory Full Gospel Church in Metropolis.Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Online condolences may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
