Elizabeth Ann Ogle of Metropolis, IL entered peacefully into the presence of her Savior on September 27, 2026. She was 96 years old. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, service and devotion that will stand as an example and be cherished by all that knew her.
Ann was born on January 15, 1930, in the depths of the great depression to Edgar and Eunice Myers. Her father, uncle and grandfather were stone masons and farmers by trade. She attended a one room schoolhouse in Knob Lick, Mo through the 8th grade and graduated from Fredericktown Mo high school as class president in 1948.
After high school she managed a production shift for Trimfoot Shoe Company in Farmington, MO. There she became friends with Irene Ogle. When Irene’s son came home from the US Navy, Irene talked Joe and Ann into going on a date. And so it was that Joe Ogle and Ann Myers, meeting on a blind date, would begin a love affair that lasted the rest of their lives.
For many years she ran Ann’s Draperies in Metropolis making custom window treatments for people’s homes and businesses. Today you can still find her work all over town.
Hers was a life primarily devoted to service; her husband, her faith, family, friends, church and community. She was a second or surrogate mother to kids that needed someone to care for them, listen to them or feed them. On any given day you could find her caring for a sick person, preparing meals for Weekend Blessings, visiting people at nursing homes and assisted living facilities, helping around the shop at Creations the Florist, serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother, working in Boy Scout Troop 101’s concession stand at the annual Fort Massac encampment, or just goofing off dressing up like Scoutmaster Joe Ogle for the annual troop Halloween party.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ogle; son Danny Ogle; parents Edgar and Eunice Myers, and brothers Ben and Joe Myers.
She is survived by her sons Kevin (Marge) Ogle, Jeff Ogle, and daughter-in-law Karla Ogle; grandchildren John Mathew Ogle, Jesse Ogle (Natalie), Taylin Ogle, Jacob Ogle, Isabell Ogle and Kyle (Drew) Aldridge. She has two great grandchildren; Daniel Aldridge and Rory Lucille Aldridge.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and friends that cared for and supported Ann with unwavering love during her final days. Among so many others, special thanks to Dorothy Busclas, Gaee Gentry and Mark Souders.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at the First Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held on at 4:00 pm at the with Dena Hopkins officiating and burial to follow in Masonic Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be given in Ann’s name to Weekend Blessings, 100 E. 5th Street, Metropolis, IL 62960. Condolences for the family may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
