Elberta Windhorst, age 97 was born November 25, 1923 to Fred and Hattie Scammahorn. She went to sleep in death Thursday, July 29, 2021 with her family and friends by her side.
She is survived by her daughter Joann Sichling and husband Val; sister-in-law, Helen Scammahorn and several nieces and nephews as well as many friends who are like family.
She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1938 at the age of 15 and zealously served Jehovah God in imitation of God's son Jesus Christ until her death.
On February 17, 1941 she married Earl Windhorst who proceeded her in death on June 24, 1999.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard and David Scammahorn and two sisters, Jeannette and Vernadine Wease.
She looked forward to the time when Jesus will call those sleeping in death out of the graves to live forever on this earth when it will be restored to the original paradise conditions of the Garden of Eden. Jesus taught us to pray for that time in the Lord's Prayer when we say, "thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as in heaven."
Private graveside services were held on Monday, August 2, 2021 at the Masonic Cemetery in Metropolis. A memorial service will be held on Zoom on August 28, 2021.
Arrangements were entrusted to Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.
