Durwood D. Eleam, age 74 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 12:20 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014 at his residence.Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis. Private family burial will take place at a later date in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Pope Co., IL.Durwood retired from Electric Energy Incorporated as a shift supervisor, was a member of the Metropolis First Baptist Church, a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge #91, a member of the Four Rivers Jayco Camping Club, and a veteran of the United States Navy, having obtained the rank of BT3.Durwood is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rheitta (McNichols) Eleam of Metropolis, IL; 2 daughters, Martha Boland and husband Allen of Brentwood, TN and Susan Thompson and fiancé Billy Shinn of Metropolis, IL; 3 granddaughters, Audrey and Katie Thompson both of Metropolis, IL and Elizabeth Boland of Brentwood, TN; brother, Gerald L. Eleam of Enterprise, AL; several nieces and nephews.Durwood was preceded in death by his parents, Willis F. and Lucille (Lauderdale) Eleam.Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening February 11, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis.Memorials may be made to Lourdes Hospice, P.O.
