Dorothy Meinders-Greene, age 85 of Metropolis, passed from this life on Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Massac Memorial Hospital. Dorothy was the youngest child of Otto and Verna Lynn Wymer and was born on July 23, 1933 in Massac County.  She graduated from the Metropolis High School in the Class of 1950, was a member of the Unionville Christian Church, and later became a member of the First Christian Church in Metropolis. On October 28, 1950, she married Ralph A. Meinders and to this union one daughter was born, Pamela.  Ralph preceded her in death in 1987 and on May 2, 1989 she married Loren G. Greene, who also preceded her in death on October 24, 2014.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Weaver and husband Donnie L. Weaver, one granddaughter, Shawnie Howard and husband Zach, One brother-in-law, Paul Meinders and wife Donna, one sister-in-law, Maraline Meyers; nieces and nephews, Judy and Jim Friedl, Deborah Marker, Connie and Tod Douglas, Shelly and Jeff Trovillion, Brenda and Greg Souders, Carolyn and John Sigman, Janice and Art Nischer, Donna Sue Griggs, Robert and Pam Meinders, David and Ruth Meinders, Doug and Kathy Meinders; great nephew, Dylan Douglas; many other great nieces and great nephews.

Beside her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Troy Wymer and wife Maxine and Wilburn Wymer; a sister, Goldie L. Smith; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Wymer.

She was an employee of the Good Luck Glove Company in Metropolis for 9 years, then she went to work at City National Bank, where she worked at the main bank and the branch bank for 53 years.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Metropolis with Pastor Keith Tilford officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be given in Dorothy's name to the First Christian Church, 420 Catherine Street, Metropolis, IL  62960.

Friends may call at the First Christian Church in Metropolis on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 from 12 noon until the funeral hour at 2 p.m.
