Donald "Donnie" R. Lang, 66, of Metropolis, died at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015. He was born in Metropolis, IL on October 22, 1948. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.Donnie grew up in the Metropolis area and worked as a foreman for the Metropolis City Water and Light Department. He loved to fish, play guitar, the band he played in, Feeling Country, and to tell you a joke. Donnie married the love of his life, Sharon, on November 3rd, 1976, in Vienna, IL.Donnie is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharon of Metropolis; two sons, Alan Lang of Metropolis and Kenny Carnes of Ina, IL; two daughters, Nancy Stern and husband Marc of Bridgeville, PA, and Penny Legereit and husband Jonathan of Paducah, KY; two cousins, Vickie Sweeny and husband Johnny and Mary Hicks; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Sadie.He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Mary Lang; one daughter, Glenda Pearson; one son, Denny Carnes; two brothers, James Russell and David Lang; and two sisters, Vicki Ann Lang and Helen Emogene Lang.Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home.Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association PO Box 97075 Washington, DC 20077-7258.Online condolences may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
