Danny Williams, 71, of Metropolis, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday April 27, 2016 at home with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Welsh officiating. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Metropolis with military rites. Danny was a Union Millwright out of L.U. #1080 for over 50 years. Danny was admired by many millwrights. He always said "it ain't broke unless I can't fix it". He was a member of the American Legion, AMVETS Club and Southern Illinois Region/Ohio Valley Chapter Antique Automobile Club Danny loved to build just about anything, he was an avid Nascar fan along with any racing events. His love of outdoors was evident in the projects he built, loved camping and traveling with his family. He was a member of The First Church of God and a Vietnam Veteran with 155 Aviation BN. Danny is survived by his loving wife, Martha, of 44 years; daughter, Monica Obermark (Kevin), sons, John (Chasida) Williams and Daniel (Amy) Williams. Danny is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, Garrett, WesLee, Jala, Dalton and Aren; 1 sister, Judy Kommer (Lyndell); 2 brothers, Bob Williams and Ronnie (Brenda) Williams; Mother-in-Law, Eloise Burton; several nieces and nephews. . He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne William and Marie (McCandless) Williams; 2 bothers, Maurice Williams and Donnie Williams; and two nephews Frankie Williams and Derek Williams. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Aikins Farmer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to The First Church of God Building Fund 1105 Girard St. Metropolis, IL 62960. Pallbearers: John Williams, Daniel Williams, Garrett Williams, Tim Williams, Stephen Girot, Kevin Obermark, Brian (BB) Brewer and David Miller.
