Chester "Chet" Nelson III, 57, of Paducah, KY, formerly of Temple City, CA, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis with Steve Karraker officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Everyone attending the service or visitation is asked to wear a face covering and practice customarily accepted social distancing guidelines.

Chester was a member of Metropolis Church of Christ. He loved to ride his Harley enjoying finding the backroads to ride to his destination.

Chet is survived by his father, Chester Nelson II of San Rafael, NM and his mother, Diane Hike of New Columbia, IL; companion, Celeste MacTavish of Cadiz, KY; son, Chester Nelson IV of Fort Riley, KS; sister, Kelli Coates of Metropolis, IL; niece and nephew, Bailey Coates of Lubbock, TX and Logan Coates of Metropolis, IL.

Chet was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd and Jane Wiley.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 11 am to 1 pm at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis.
