Ms. Cheryl Walters, age 75 of Metropolis, IL, passed away at 12:44 pm on June 23, 2026 at Metropolis Nursing & Rehab in Metropolis with her loving family by her side.

Graveside services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Metropolis Memorial Gardens with Pastor Justin Wolfe officiating. There will be no visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

After dedicating many years to her career, Cheryl retired as Treasurer of Joppa Maple Grove School district. Cheryl loved being outdoors gardening, mowing the lawn, or planting flowers. Prior to his death, She and her husband Bob loved traveling to many states in their motor home, and camping with their family and friends.

Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Lori (Jeff) Jackson of East Lansing, MI; two sons, Jason (Brandye) Krueger and Brandon (Jill) Carnahan of Metropolis, IL; stepdaughter, Angie (Bruce) George; stepson, Bobby Walters of Metropolis, IL; eight grandchildren, Darion (Sierra) George, Bryce George, Taylor Walters, Zack Krueger, and Jake Krueger of Metropolis, IL, Justin (Zoe) Jackson, Josh (Lauren) Jackson, and Logan Ann (Javier) Rendon of East Lansing, MI; two great grandsons, Raylan and Marlo George of Metropolis, IL; brother, Larry (Jenny) Jerdon of Huntsville, AL; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded In Death by her beloved husband, Bob Walters; parents, Lannes and Pauline (McCuan) Jerdon; brother, Randy Jerdon.
