Charles Larry "Tennessee" Edwards, age 71, of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at his home with his loving family by his side.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home with Linwood Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.Tennessee was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ in Brookport and a member of the IBEW Local Union 702. Tennessee was a proud retired Vietnam Veteran and served as commander of the local American Legion Post 306. Tennessee is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Betty Edwards; daughter, Amanda Edwards Sater and husband James Sater II of Atlanta, GA; son, Wes Edwards of Metropolis; 2 grandchildren, Kinsley Edwards and James "Tripp" Sater III; 1 sister, Brenda Sowell of Golconda, IL; several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mildred Edwards.Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home.Expressions of sympathy may be given to the American Legion Post 306 321 Market Street Metropolis, IL 62960.Online condolences may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
