Obituary

Charles Edward Reynolds, age 73 of Metropolis, IL went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 30, 2017 while surrounded by his family at Massac Memorial Hospital. Charles was born on October 13th, 1944 to Arel and Zula Reynolds at their home in Massac County. He also attended school and lived his whole life in Massac County. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the United States Army from 1964-1966. Charles married the love of his life, Norma Lee Coursey Reynolds on April 6th, 1968. They were blessed with a son, Justin Brian Reynolds in 1973. Charles was an avid horseman who enjoyed showing horses with his son. He was thrilled to later include his three grandchildren in that tradition. He was a member of the Racking Horse Breeders Association of America. He was employed by Hitterman's Hardware for 50 years where he made many friends. Charles was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an ordained Baptist deacon who faithfully served the Lord in all he did. He was kind to everyone he met and will be greatly missed. Charles is survived by his wife of 49 years, Norma Lee Reynolds of Metropolis; son, Rev. Justin B. Reynolds and wife Jacinda; grandchildren, Justin Morgan Reynolds, Jacqueline Noelle Yingling and husband David and Jonathan Edward Reynolds; brother, Vernon Reynolds; sisters-in-law, Bernice Reynolds, Nonaley Reynolds, and Donna Coursey; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arel and Zula Reynolds; his in-laws, Ernest and Irene Coursey; brothers, Raymond Reynolds and Bobbie Reynolds; sister-in-law, Donnie Reynolds; and brother-in-law, Marvin Coursey. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening, December 3, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Monday, December 4, 2017 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. Rev. Justin B. Reynolds and Rev. Frank Forthman Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Justin Morgan Reynolds, Jonathan Reynolds, Mike Reynolds, Reggie Reynolds, Victor Reynolds, and Richard Berry. Honorary Bearers will be David Yingling and Patrick McCoy. Arrangements have been entrusted to Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com
