Charles R. Doyle Jr., age 80, of Metropolis, IL, passed away at 3:25 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on August 21, 1936 in Metropolis, IL. After graduation in 1954 from Metropolis Community High School, he served 21 years for his country in the United States Army. Charles is a member of the First Church of God in Metropolis, IL. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Everett Shaw officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Chapel Wood Memorial Gardens in Texarkana, TX. Charles is survived by his wife, Lawanda; daughter, Dorreen Hancock of Temple, TX; sons, Michael Doyle of Pennsylvania, Richard Doyle and wife Sarah of Metropolis, stepdaughter, Susan Ducharme and husband Art of Metropolis; stepsons, George Sullivan of Metropolis and Patrick Sullivan and wife Kim of Metropolis; 12 grandchildren, Miranda, Felicia, Nicole, Samantha, Patrick, Mark, Scott, Brittany, Alexander, Julia, April and Shannon; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Orman and husband Fred and Barbara Parmer and husband Don all of Metropolis; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gertrude Doyle; his first wife, Darlene Doyle; one son, Stephen Doyle; and one daughter, Sandra Lutes. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis on Wednesday, January 18.
