Mrs. Catherine "Kay" Burzynski, age 89, of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the Massac Memorial Hospital.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2015, at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.Kay was retired from the Metropolis Planet and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Metropolis for many years.Kay is survived by her husband of 70 years, Lawrence Burzynski of Metropolis; 2 daughters, Ruth Sturm and husband John of Greensboro, NC and Nancy Smith and husband Paul of Calvert City, KY; 4 grandchildren, Erika Sturm, Rachel Sturm, Stephanie Lawrence and husband Carter, and Vanessa Smith; 1 brother, Jim Macari and wife Margie of Shelbyville, IL; 2 nephews; 1 niece; and close family friend, Gary Robinson.She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Jennie (Belom) Macari.Visitation will be held at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home on Friday, June 12 from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m. Online condolences may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
