Carolyn R. Bunting, age 79, of Metropolis, Illinois, died peacefully at home on January 29, 2026, surrounded by those who loved her dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home, with Pastor Justin Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Carolyn was a faithful and devoted member of the First Church of God in Metropolis and proudly served as a member of the Illinois State Women of the Church of God. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life and guided her love for family, church, and community. She cherished time spent with her family, especially attending her granddaughters' sporting events, and remained actively involved in church functions and ministries throughout her life.
She is survived by her lifetime companion, Rollie Bunting, who lovingly helped care for her in her final years; her sons, Terry Bunting (Michelle) and Charles Bunting (Aleshia); her granddaughter, Jenna Bunting, and her fiancé, Nate Watts; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
The family also wishes to express their sincere gratitude to her devoted caregivers, Teresa Baird and Melissa Bates, for their compassion, kindness, and faithful care.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Huss and Ruby Watts Shelton, and by her brother, Scott Huss.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 until 2:00 PM on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the funeral home.
