Obituary

Kenneth BormannCarl Kenneth Bormann was born March 6, 1936, to Carl & Helen Kuhlman Bormann in the family home on their farm in Massac County. He lived his entire life on that family farm. Kenneth was a well-known and respected farmer in Massac County, and farming and tractors were his hobby as well as his livelihood. He still actively farmed the land his family has owned since the 1850's. Kenneth planted the majority of the corn this spring, and he has taught his grandchildren how to carry on his legacy.He was united in marriage to Nancy Sue Angelly on April 11, 1956, in Corinth, MS. He and Sue met in high school and their first date was Kenneth's junior prom. They had a wonderful marriage for 59 years. To this union was born three daughters, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kenneth loved and cared for his entire family. He was a hard worker, but was always available to offer his advice and lend a hand to neighbors and friends in need. His sense of humor and unfailing patience were two of his greatest qualities. An avid collector and restorer of antique tractors and equipment, Kenneth had a collection of over 80 tractors he personally restored. His collection included the first Farmall H that his father, Carl Bormann, sold at Searles and Bormann Implement Company in Metropolis, IL. He has also restored the orchard tractor that was used on the family farm. In addition to tractors he was also a lover of jeeps. Kenneth served on various boards during his lifetime. He was an officer for the Soil & Water Conservation Board, he served on the Franklin School Board and the Fort Massac Water District. He was also a member of the National Farmers Organization and the Paducah Area Antique Tractor and Engine Club. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ where he served on the cemetery board and the church board. Kenneth left this earth peacefully on May 31, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to mourn his death his loving wife Sue and his daughters Connie and husband Jerry Gentry, Elizabeth and husband Ronald Douglas and Caroline and husband Kristopher Jones. His grandchildren were Stephanie and husband Jeffrey Gentry Weber, Jared and wife Ashley Gentry, Rebecca and husband Canaan Douglas Montgomery, Matthew and wife Rachel Douglas, Attie Jones and Aubrey Jones. His great grandchildren were Hannah Weber, Ellie Weber, Lydia Douglas and soon to arrive Baby Gentry. He was also survived by his sisters Jo Ann Throgmorton, Gwendolyn Hunt, Yvonne Crosier, Carol Martinek and Karen and her husband Steve Humm. Also remaining are his aunt, Martha Anderson, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Zion United Church of Christ. Dr. James Nelson and Rev. Louis W. Brinker will officiate. Kenneth will be laid to rest on his family farm where he was born, lived and farmed his entire life. He will be on a beautiful hill where he can continue to watch over his family. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening June 4, 2015 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Zion United Church of Christ, 1132 Country Club Road, Metropolis, IL 62960 and on Friday, June 5, 2015 from 9 am to 11 am at the church.Miller Funeral Home in Metropois, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
