C. Glenda Mescher, age 92, of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 7:26 pm on Monday, April 6, 2015 at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Friday, April 10, 2015 at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Father Michael Christopher Mujule will officiate. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.Glenda was born on January 5, 1923 in Vienna, Illinois the daughter of Roy and Sophia (Zimmers) Shetler. She married C. Harold Mescher of Cypress, Illinois in 1940. They moved to Cairo in 1941 and remained there until they moved to Marion in 1968 and then they moved to Metropolis in 1969. Glenda was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Metropolis.Glenda is survived by 2 sons, Michael Mescher and wife Patricia of Athens, GA and Gregory Mescher and wife Debi of Peoria, IL; daughter-in-law, Kay Mescher of Ames, IA; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.Glenda was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Rod Mescher; sister, Ruth Greer; 3 brothers, Jack, Charles, and Robert "Bob" Shetler.Visitation will be held on Thursday evening April 9, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at the Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis.Memorials may be made to St. Rose of Lima, 315 East 3rd Street, Metropolis, Illinois 62960 or First United Methodist Church, 100 East 5th Street, Metropolis, Illinois 62960.Music will be provided by Lois Brinkman, Organist and Mary Harper, Cantor.Pallbearers will be Phil Mescher, Justin Mescher, Nathan Mescher, Chad Romp, Mark Shetler, and Neil Wagner.Online condolences may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com
