Mr. E. Blaine Kennedy, age 95, of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014 at his home.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Metropolis First Baptist Church with Revs. Joe Buchanan and Louis W. Brinker officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery with Military Rites.Mr. Kennedy was born on July 8, 1919 to Hoyt and Edna (Westerman) Kennedy. He was a member of the Metropolis First Baptist Church where he was a life time Deacon, the Metropolis Chamber of Commerce; former member of the Metropolis Rotary club and an overall outstanding business man. He bought Humma's Drug Store in 1962 and successfully ran it until it was sold in 1985. Blaine was a US Army Veteran who served from 1941 to 1945 and spent 2 of those years overseas in the MASH Unit.Blaine is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty (Neicamp) Kennedy; daughters, Tamia Foster and husband Terry and Kristina Armstrong and husband Craig both of Metropolis; son, Elton Kennedy and wife Lisa of Oceanside, CA; 7 grandchildren, Kara Heine, Meredith Etheridge, Austin Kennedy, Kandace Foster, Matt Armstrong, Blair Armstrong, and Jared Armstrong; 6 great-grandchildren, Olivia Heine, Hannah Heine, Aubrey Etheridge, Wilke Armstrong, Blakely Armstrong, and Jed Armstrong.He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 granddaughter, Jordan Kennedy.Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at 2 p.m. at the Metropolis First Baptist Church on Thursday, October 9.Expressions of Sympathy may be given to the First Baptist Church Building Fund 307 Massac Creek Road Metropolis, IL 62960.Online condolences may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
