Billie Jo Stoker, 84, of Metropolis, IL, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Lourdes Hospital.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Aikins Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. Pastor Mike Hardison will officiate. Burial will follow in the Golconda I.O.O.F. Cemetery.Born in Golconda, IL, to N.R. and Mamie Scott who preceded her in death, she graduated from Lakeview High School at the age of 16 in Akron, Ohio, before moving to Metropolis, IL. Billie was employed by the Hudson car dealership and later the Studebaker dealership in Metropolis before going to work for Union Carbide in Paducah, KY. Married for more than 25 years to Charles Stoker, she lived in Marion and worked for Curtis & Ross accounting firm in Carbondale. In 1976, she moved to Chicago, IL, where she worked as an executive secretary for Horwath & Horwath (Touche Ross) accounting until her retirement in 1993, when she returned to southern IL. She was a member of Community Christian Church in Metropolis.Ms. Stoker is survived by her brother Charles Scott and sister-in-law Valerie Scott of Larkspur, CO, along with beloved niece Kelley Brewster and grandniece Ella Brewster of Escondido, CA.
